My son is only 4 months old. 4 months new. 4 precious, perfect months. And yet, I am already worried and nervous for his future.
I am a worry wart by nature. I can't help it. I have been born and raised as someone who worries and frets over the smallest things. It's an illness. But, that's not the point...
The point is, I just want the best for my son. In everything he does. In everything he seeks. In everything about him.
I have began to pray for many things for my son that I didn't even think about until I became a parent. Here is a list of important things that I am already praying about for his future.
1-For him to be raised a child of God and grow into a man of God. I pray that he loves his Savior more than anything and anyone on this Earth. I pray that he feels wrapped in an unconditional love that he can only get from the Lord. A love that can get him through the challenges of his life and a unwavering faith that builds the foundation of his character.
2-For his health. I ask the Lord that he grows healthy and strong in His image. I want him to experience all of the wonderful things life has to offer him, and that he has the health to be able to do so.
3-For happiness. This one is so important. Life is filled with wanting more and more and more. Never satisfied with what you have. I want him to experience fulfillment, contentment, and most of all, sheer happiness. I pray this for him because people always look for happiness, but I want him to be happy with what he has, with what God has blessed him with, and not be searching for it in all of the wrong places.
4-For love. I pray that my son experiences a deep and everlasting love. I hope he steers clear of lust and superficial love. I want him to love his friends and family whole-heartedly, and in return, be loved by those around him.
5-For his future wife. I want my son to find a woman who loves Christ first, and puts Him in the center of her relationship with my son. I want her to always push my son to be the best he can be, and I hope that she truly makes him happy. That they laugh uncontrollaby together, they hold hands when nobody is watching, and that they grow together for the duration of their lives.
6-For good friendships. Friends have a huge influence on you. I pray that my son has a good and solid group of friends that support one another, protect each other, and always has his back.
7-To be respectful. I pray that my son is respectful to everyone he meets. I hope that he is courteous and is kind to others. I want him to look for the best in people and not only think about the negatives. I want him to say ,"Yes ma'am, No Sir," and help the eldery people load groceries in their car.
8-To be a family man. I want my son to love spending time with his family. I want that to be a priority in his life. I hope that he realizes how important and rewarding it is to be surrounded by family. And selfishly, I always hope that he loves on and visits his momma.
I love my sweet son more than life itself, and I want his life to be filled with joy. I don't think it's ever too early to start praying for his near and far future.
